Here's a Legal Non Banned Substance That Will Give You the Best Performance Edge as an Athlete

Searching for an edge to aid make you more competitive and likely to win an approaching athletic event? Here is a legal, non-banned element and if you use it in just the correct quantity before every affair it will give you an edge. Want to know what this substance is... read on.

That substance is the most ordinary liquid, water. What we are talking about here is to be correctly hydrated before and throughout an athletic affair. Doing so will have a terrible outcome on your performance. Did you know that if you have as little as 1 % too little water in your system it can reduce your performance by as much as 10%?

Many athletes don't understand the importance of hydration and how to become properly hydrated before an event. If you do it will give you an edge.

Water is one of the most essential parts of the human body. The human body is more than half made up of water. You can go without eating food for weeks, but without consuming water, in a week's time you would probably be dead.

Water has many very important roles in the body. Two of the more important role is its ability to regulate the temperature of the body and aid in the digestive system. The reason you sweat is because that is the body's way of cooling you down. Water is also important in transporting nutrients and disposing of waste in the body.

All throughout the day, more so during exercise and athletic events, water is lost from the body. When this happens it must be replenished. In an hour long, intense exercise and depending on the humidity, the body can lose as much as a quart of water. If there is not enough water in the body to do what it is supposed to do the body becomes dehydrated.

When your body becomes dehydrated it has trouble cooling itself. First you become tired, and then exhausted, the body starts to shut down, certainly not performing at its best. You muscle may begin to suffer and cramp and tire. You lose coordination. Finally this condition can lead to what is called heat stroke.

As an athlete it is major to keep your body properly hydrated if you want it to perform at its best. For that reason you should drink water often, even before you feel thirsty. If you are feeling thirsty, that is your body's way of telling you dehydration is beginning.

You don't want to overdo it and drink too much, but the best indicator if your body is suitably hydrated will be to notice the color of your urine. It should be very light colored or at best clear.

Constantly replenishing the water in your body can get boring with just water. So try sports drinks once in a while. They contain electrolytes which can also be beneficial. Be careful with juices, as they contain sugar which you may not want for a complete other set of reasons.

Here are best proper hydration tips for athletes:
